Eva Mendes spills sexy secrets
by Laetitia Wong
She’s 41, but yet the gorgeous Hollywood actress slash mother of baby Esmeralda (with hunk Ryan Gosling) did not shy away from her very first Facebook Q&A, where she was asked a torrential of beauty and style questions about how she’s sustained her old-Hollywood glam look and keeping her face fresh and youthful. Not only does the starlet abide by the oldie but goodie ‘less is more’ motto, she owns her own shoe and clothing line at New York & Company, and has even confessed to being hit by the vintage bug – Be it from the Salvation Army or from Goodwill, she’s your girl.
Here are some of her best and brightest top beauty and style tips that we took away from her Facebook Q&A, which was a smashing success:
1. Always stay hydrated
Mendes suggests that drinking warm water and lemon every morning before her coffee and staying hydrated all day long really keeps her stay healthy and keeps her skin looking it’s best. In addition, she cites water as her top beauty must-have.
“I believe it starts from within, so water, water, water,” she wrote.
2. Consistency is Key
Having been a religious workout nut since even before her 2005 flick in Hitch alongside Will Smith, where she looked absolutely fantastic in her tight pencil skirts and bodycon dresses, Mendes wrote: “I also exercise at least three days a week no matter how stressed I am. I do cardio and light weights at least three times a week.”
And as for her diet, she’s a good ole’ believer in moderation. “I think eating anything you want as long as it’s in moderation is good,” she said.
3. Drugstore makeup? Why not?
Akin to other women around the world, Mendes exclaimed, “I have too many! My cosmetic line CIRCA was created for Walgreens because I felt there was a lack of amazing makeup at drugstores. I love Psssst dry shampoo. Great product and so inexpensive! As a body scrub, I love St. Ives Apricot Scrub. For skin, I love Queen Helene products.”
Hey, we’re a St. Ives lover too! Score!
4. Kitchen solutions are the best
With makeup removers getting to the point of being almost as expensive as new makeup itself, Mendes has a simple solution for you. “Coconut oil on a damp washcloth,” she advises. She couldn’t stop gushing about it! “I use it on my face, my body and even my hair. Couldn’t live without it!” she wrote.
5. Fashion doesn’t have to cost you
Mendes has a flair for fashion, and states that she loves putting her own modern twist on the vintage look. With her own clothing line featuring dresses with a vintage flair, she stated that she cites inspiration from Sophia Loren, Monica Vitti, Gina Lollobrigida and Claudia Cardinale – Oh, the 1940s and 50s seductive sirens.
“Any time I go to a new place I always check out their Salvation Army and Goodwill. It’s so fun. You have to be patient but it’s always worth it!” Mendes wrote.
