Beat hair boredom now!

by Laetitia Wong

I have to confess. I am bored of my hair.

Having gone through a full chrysalis cycle, dating from 2010 to the present, my hair has been through the works. From Octopus haircuts, to going unnaturally blonde for my pan-Asian face, to dying it several violent shades of crime-scene red, and eventually settling on a nice glossy black colour. That without a doubt, came from a box. I’ve got trust issues when it comes to colour stylists, but let’s leave that for another time.

Alright, just imagine this hairstyle on a much chubbier 17-year old Asian girl. Yep, that was me.

And as I said, I’ve been suffering from the hair-version of “I’ve got nothing in my wardrobe to wear!” syndrome. For a rather ridiculous moment, I even toyed with the idea of putting my poor inky hair through several rounds of bleaching just to get it back to that Rapunzel-gold shade that I so loved. Oh, 2013 was a good year.

I settled on getting a set of clip-in hair extensions, somehow hoping that they’d eventually make my whole perspective on life different and turned me from this boring ‘ugly duckling’ to this graceful Adriana Lima looking swan.

Trust me, it doesn’t work like that. I ended up looking like one of Stephen Chow’s fantasy flying women in A Pandora’s Box. As a mid-way solution, I’ve compiled a list of my favourite runway looks, and the great thing about them is they’re doable! Check these out for some fresh inspiration!
