Kick it old school: Summer charm

I still remember when my Pops had his Mick Jagger do’, and Mom had her 80′s perm – Those faded sepia hardcopy photos (I’m not talking about some Instagram filter here) were a hoot back when I was a kid, but has turned into a piece of nostalgic memorabilia as I got older.

We’re all part of some history, a past. We’re citing our July summer fashion inspiration from some of the best retro films and telly.

Check out some of our favourite retro fashion! They’ve got a certain charm, you have to admit…

1. Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Those bathing suits were to die for. Not to mention Mrs Lovett’s frilly strawberry-inspired polka dotted parasol!

2. Jean-Pierre Geunet’s Amélie

Audrey Tatou’s iconic hairstyle was adorable! We just wish we had the delicate bone structure to pull off such the 40′s flapper do’!

3. Luc Besson’s Léon: The Professional

I believe this was the moment where the world fell in love with Natalie Portman (yes that’s her!). Aside from her whacky on-screen personality and moving performance (as pictured above), we gotta say: Pinstripes were really in fashion back then! Trés belle.

4. Joel Schumacher’s The Lost Boys

Kiefer Sutherland’s icy blonde mullet. That will be all.

5. Hallmark’s The Nanny

Oh, when will that huge Fran Dresher hair come back in style? We’ve still got our fingers crossed, but don’t get your hopes up high! This weather in Singapore does nothing for the Bardot look, lest you want a face of melted makeup and a flattened pompadour.
