Navigating the Festive Sparkle

All that glitters is gold.

The festive season is fast approaching and we’re expecting a never-ending to-do list and a packed back-to-back weekend. Between last minute gift shopping, meeting year-end deadlines or the impromptu meet up with the friends you didn’t manage to meet as often over the past few months, it definitely seems like there’s not enough time to breathe, let alone worry about what to wear.

We’ve curated a few looks for the festive season and incorporated PANTONE’s 2016 colour of the year to get you kick started and hopefully give you inspiration when putting together your own festive season ensemble!

Party With Friends

Probably one of the easiest occasions to dress up for, this is the best time and place to experiment and have fun putting together.

As tempting as it is to go and repurchase a whole new set of clothes for the festive season, we’ve chosen to work around a little black dress. We believe that glitter and sparkles are excusable during the festive season. We love the simplicity behind pairing a bejewelled clutch or working with a quirky accessory like Kate Spade’s Dot Ornament Clutch with a little black dress for an added flair and fun.

For the adventurous, you can incorporate this season’s up-and-coming hues such as Serenity and Rose Quartz, and add more dimension to your outfit.

Brunch/Dinner With Family

 Rosy Christmas

A meal with the family might seem like a casual occasion, but putting a little effort surely doesn’t take too much time or effort. Smart, conservative pieces in luxe fabrics or redone in prints easily elevates an otherwise normal, day-to-day ensemble to something more dressy and event-appropriate.

We’ve chosen to curate this look around PANTONE’s Rose Quartz, which happens to be one of 2016’s colour of the year. We love how it gives off a sweet, delicate and feminine allure to any outfit, and it’s no surprise that it’s already one of our long-time favourite shade to work with.

So whether you’re having a meal with your family or with your significant other’s, you’ll get the brownie points you deserve just by putting in that extra bit of effort.

Corporate Retreat

Christmas 2015

Crossing into tricky territory, it’s easy to go a tad bit overboard when dressing for a corporate party. Do bear in mind that certain dress codes and rules are still in place and a formal attire is still necessary.

Despite that, dressing for the annual corporate party need not be a chore. Look polished by picking pieces with slightly thicker fabric or opt for unconventional hues.

Our favourite shades are soft greys and berry tints. Generally safe colours, but it still allows you to stand out from the black or navy ensembles that are prevalent in office attire.

This is the season to reward yourself for all the good behaviour (or redeem yourself for the bad) this entire year, so despite all the dress codes and formalities in place, don’t forget to enjoy yourself!
