Fun for Fall: Basics Reimagined
A girl should be two things:
classy and fabulous.
– Coco Chanel
A night out with your friends often times call for your trusty pair of jeans and a basic tee or a cute little black dress. While we advocate being comfortable and love the model-off-duty uniform, sometimes a small effort can reap many rewards.
PANTONE has released it’s top ten hues for Fall 2015 and we are excited to give all ten hues a try. While fall is a season that conjures many moody and dramatic colour palettes, we’re noticing a polar trend as of late. This year is all about vibrant tones reminiscent of the earth and oceans.
Decking yourself in a single colour might have been a scary faux pas a couple of years back where only the daring dare to venture. However, we’re seeing a lot of our favourite fashion icons rocking matching two piece sets. The flash of skin between pieces help break up the ensemble into smaller pieces, and this works exceptionally well if your apparel has a lot of busy prints.
Taking cues from our girl-crush of the moment, we’re keeping it modest and simple like Zendaya. One easy way to break up your monochrome outfit and keep it visually appealing is to play with texture. Think silks with velvet or cotton with velour. A cheat way to rocking a single-colour ensemble is to choose prints that already incorporate two distinct colours together.
Whether you’re a daring daredevil or not so sure on rocking the season’s latest hues, an easy way of doing so is to reimagine classic, basic pieces.
One effortlessly cool way of incorporating the season’s hues is to find it in classic prints or fabrics. A fitting lace number definitely conjures up a sweet and dainty perception of the lady wearing it. However, refresh an otherwise overdone classic piece by flaunting it in an unexpected, vibrant hue.
Another bold way is to incorporate it in prints. A printed garment is definitely a sound investment as it is a piece that can carry you from season to season and easily becomes the focal point of your outfit, leaving you more time to worry about having a good time.
Seasons come and go, trends tend to come back full circle. However, we can guarantee that the trendiest thing in fashion right now is having your own unique sense of style, and personal style is personal, so you decide what you want to wear and how to wear it.
Coco Chanel did mention that a lady should be two things: classy and fabulous, and there is no easier way to achieve that than to create your own definition of class and fabulousness through personal style.
