Be practical with your makeup, ladies. It’s not unheard of for girls to be walking the corner of a MAC Cosmetics counter whilst whining loudly to their latte-swigging BFFs that they’re ‘breaking out’ and ‘no amount of pimple cream is going to fix that monster zit on my face’.
Perhaps taking a step back and taking a look at things in perspective would really help you (and your skin). Take it from me, there comes a time in every girl’s life where Hollywood images and countless of makeup advertisements convince them that skincare is nothing, if makeup can cover it, then your problems are fixed.
Trust me, it ain’t true. Skincare is 110% more important than the pore-clogging chemicals that you’re piling on your face. Just a casual reminder that makeup should enhance your natural beauty, not conceal it.
Having said that, all products are victims to a shelf life. Unfortunately for you and the 70 dollar foundation that you just invested in, I hope you’re prepared to use it up in the next 3 to 6 months, because that’s about all the time you’ve got.
Now of course that number isn’t set in stone, but for those girls out there with sensitive skin or are particularly adverse to the hot weather and have a predisposition to sweat their makeup off, I highly encourage you to ditch the old makeup and invest in something a little smaller and manageable to last you throughout these few months.
Using old makeup can not only clog your pores, but cause white-heads, breakouts and numerous skin conditions such as eczema and flaky skin. Just check out the infographic below for more information on how long your beauty benefactors would last you!
